Decoy DJ-54 Dancing Jack Assist Hook — Gold, Made In Japan
The DJ-54 belongs to Decoy's DJ range, the assist hooks Katsuichi ties for jigs, spoons and plugs, and it is the twin-point option in that line. Using a double hook instead of a single greatly reduces snagging, with little difference in hooking performance and better resistance against losing fish. It handles the rolling movement of a trout as easily as the head-shaking and gill-washing of a seabass. Because both points sit on one assist cord, the hook swings away from the lure body instead of levering against it — the action that costs fish on fixed trebles. Supplied in gold with Aqua Block plating in sizes SS, S, M, LL and 3L.

How To Rig It
- Rear assist on a spoon — Fit it to the tail split ring in place of the treble, count the spoon down, then wind at the slowest speed that keeps the blade wobbling. The twin points foul the line far less.
- Front assist on a metal jig — Mount at the head ring so the points ride above the jig on the fall. Work a short one-pitch jerk and let the jig flutter back; most takes come on the drop.
- Conversion on plugs — Replace belly or tail trebles to cut snagging over reef, weed and timber. Check the lure still swims true afterwards.
- Fighting fish — Keep steady pressure and a moderate drag. The cord lets the hook move, so avoid slack line and let the rod absorb head shakes.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Queenfish, small trevally and barracuda on light shore jigs off rock walls, and hampala barb (sebarau) or peacock bass where reservoir snags eat trebles.
- North America — Trout, salmon and steelhead on spoons, plus striped bass and inshore species on jigs and plugs.
- Japan & East Asia — Seabass (suzuki), trout and salmon on spoons and plugs, and small hamachi on light shore jigging tackle.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian salmon, tailor and bonito on metals; queenfish in the Gulf; pike, perch and sea trout on spoons in Europe.
