HEARTY RISE - SLOW JIGGING SOLID RING SR-10
Hearty Rise Slow Jigging Solid Ring SR-10
A solid ring is a closed loop with no gap and no coil seam, so it carries the knot and the assist cords while the split ring carries the jig. Braid and thin cord can work into a split ring's seam and be cut under load, and a small split ring can be pulled open by a hard fish. The Hearty Rise SR-10 is built for slow jigging: ultra-thin and lightweight, adding as little mass and bulk as possible to a rig whose whole purpose is letting the jig flutter, glide and fall on slack line. High-quality stainless steel with a specially polished smooth surface, safe with thin lines.
Key Features
- Ultra-thin, lightweight design in high-quality stainless steel
- Specially polished smooth surface; closed seamless loop with no gap for cord to enter
- Safe with thin lines; solves the problem of small lure rings opening after being buckled in
- Purpose-designed for slow-pitch rigs rather than popping or high-pitch jigging
- Three sizes: #4, #5 and #6
Why A Slow-Jigging Ring Is Thinner
Slow pitch catches fish on the fall, when the jig is released on slack line and slides sideways, flutters and rolls. Weight or bulk at the nose damps that movement: a heavy popping-grade ring makes a jig fall nose-down and straight instead of gliding. Thinner wire also lets the assist cord and split ring move more freely, so the hooks swing rather than hang stiff.
How To Rig It
- Build the chain in order — Leader knots to the solid ring; front and rear assist cords loop onto the same ring; a split ring goes onto the solid ring and the jig onto the split ring.
- Open split rings with pliers only — Walk the solid ring around the coil with split ring pliers and slide it fully home. A thumbnail leaves a gap that braid will find.
- Size to the rig, not to the jig — Step up through #4, #5 and #6 as PE class, jig weight and drag increase. The ring must never be the weakest point, but oversizing kills the fall.
- Retire the set together — After a hard fight or a long trip, replace solid ring, split ring and assist cords together. Salt crust or rust bloom inside the ring means it is finished.
