Luresfactory TR Lady Bug 4.5cm 10.5g Hardbody Topwater

The TR Lady Bug is a beetle, not a frog — a rounded 4.5cm hard body with a domed shell, prominent eyes and bright spotted finishes, weighing 10.5g. In reservoirs and jungle rivers the insects that blow or fall off overhanging leaves are a real and constant food source, and surface-feeding fish are used to eating something small, round and struggling on the film. That is the presentation this lure copies. It also solves a second problem: 10.5g in a 4.5cm shell is dense, so it casts a long way and punches into wind for a lure of that size, letting you reach a far bank or a shaded overhang that a light frog cannot get near. Silicone skirt strands trail behind and keep pulsing when the body is sitting still, which is when most bites arrive. A 2/0 double hook sits close under the rear of the body, keeping exposure lower than a treble around light grass — though no lure is completely snag-free.

Key Features

  • Insect-profile hard body, 4.5cm and 10.5g
  • Domed shell, moulded eyes and high-contrast spotted colour finishes
  • Dense for its length — long casting and wind penetration in a small profile
  • Flexible silicone skirt keeps moving through the pause
  • 2/0 double hook mounted close to the rear of the body
  • An alternative silhouette for water that has been fished hard with frogs
  • Four colour patterns

How To Fish It

  • Twitch and sit — Two or three short taps to make the round body shimmy on the spot, then leave it completely still for three to five seconds. A struggling insect goes nowhere, and the stillness is what sells it.
  • Land it under the leaves — Cast so it lands with a distinct plop beneath overhanging trees, bamboo or bank scrub, then let it sit before the first twitch. The entry sound is part of the presentation.
  • Long-range margins — Use the weight to reach far shorelines and mid-lake weed edges, and work the lure all the way back rather than winding in the last section of the cast.
  • Downsize the outline, not the noise — When fish are refusing 5cm frogs but still showing on the surface, the small round profile with the same skirt movement often gets the eat.
  • Set on weight — Keep winding through the boil, wait for the rod to load, then sweep sideways. Striking at the splash pulls a hard body away from the fish.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) under overhanging riverside trees, where fallen insects are a daily food source; giant snakehead (toman) on reservoir margins; striped snakehead (haruan) in ponds and drains; peacock bass along vegetated banks.
  • North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass along shaded banks and laydowns, bluegill and other panfish on light tackle, chain pickerel in shallow weed.
  • Japan & East Asia — Bass in reservoir arms and irrigation ponds under bankside cover, and small snakehead (raigyo) on canal edges.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Sooty grunter, spangled perch and saratoga in shaded creek pools; chub, asp and perch beneath overhanging trees in European rivers and canals.
