The Jumbo Frog is a large topwater frog on a durable resin body, individually handcrafted and painted, so small differences in colour, pattern and weight occur between pieces. It is built on stainless-steel through-wire construction with a realistic frog shape, a detailed finish and a flexible silicone skirt. An internal rattling chamber adds sound and vibration, which is what makes it findable in stained water, in chop and inside thick vegetation. Strong double hooks sit close to the body and an adjustable weed guard lets it travel through grass, weed and heavy surface cover with less risk of snagging than exposed hooks — no lure is completely snag-free. The action is surface-cruising, splashing and popping, and it works in ponds, lakes, rivers, canals and reservoirs.

How To Fish It

• Over matted cover — Cast onto the mat and crawl the lure across it, letting it fall into every open hole. Tighten the weed guard for thick scum, open it out over clean water where too much guard costs hook-ups.
• Slow surface cruise — Wind as slowly as the body will still track. The high float lets it keep working at speeds the denser frogs cannot hold, which is what turns pressured or cold fish.
• Splash and pause — Two sharp twitches to pop and rattle it, then stop for three seconds or more while the skirt breathes.
• Low light and dirty water — First and last hour, or after rain, let the rattle do the searching and pick a dark silhouette over a bright one.
• Set late — Wind through the blow-up, wait a beat for the rod to load, then sweep sideways. Big fish frequently miss the first grab; leave the lure there, or cast straight back, and they usually return.
