Luresfactory MF American Toad 5cm 13g Hardbody Topwater

The Mega Frox American Toad is a 5cm, 13g topwater lure modelled on a common toad species of the United States and Canada — a heavier, warty, more rounded shape than the sleek frogs in the Mash Frog family. It carries the same 13g as the 5.5cm Mash Frog in a shorter body, so it sits a touch lower, but the real difference is how it is built. A semi-rounded belly lets it glide across the surface and slide over weed, giving a controlled, evenly spread splash on a steady retrieve and a much wider splash when twitched or popped. An internal rattle chamber adds sound and vibration, which matters in stained water and under matted cover. Flexible skirt strands pulse behind the body, a strong 2/0 double hook sits close to the shell, and an adjustable weed guard lets you tune hook exposure to the cover. No lure is completely snag-free.

Key Features

  • Topwater toad-profile lure, 5cm and 13g
  • Realistic American-toad-inspired body with a rounder, bulkier outline than a frog pattern
  • Semi-rounded belly for smooth gliding across the surface and over weed
  • Internal rattle chamber adds sound and vibration
  • Strong 2/0 double hook mounted close to the body
  • Adjustable weed guard to tune hook exposure to the cover
  • Flexible skirt strands add movement behind the body
  • Four colour patterns

How To Fish It

  • Steady glide — A constant unhurried wind lets the rounded belly plane across the top with an even, repeating splash. This is the searching retrieve for covering a weed flat or a pad field.
  • Pop it — Sharper rod-tip pulls throw a wide splash and load the rattle. Use this to call fish from further away in stained water, wind chop or low light.
  • Twitch and pause — Two or three twitches then a two- to three-second stop. The rattle settles, the skirt keeps breathing, and fish that tracked the lure commit during the stop.
  • Set the weed guard — Open it out for thick matted salvinia or pads; press it closer to the hook in sparse grass and open pockets to improve hook-up rates.
  • Pause before setting — Striking at the splash pulls a hard body clear. Wind through the blow-up, wait for the rod to load with weight, then sweep sideways.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) over matted weed on ex-mining lakes and reservoir edges; striped snakehead (haruan) in canals and pond margins; peacock bass around lily pockets; hampala barb (sebarau) where flowing water meets weed.
  • North America — Largemouth bass on lily pads and hydrilla mats, where a toad profile matches local forage exactly; bowfin and chain pickerel in southern backwaters; northern snakehead in mid-Atlantic tidal rivers.
  • Japan & East Asia — Snakehead (raigyo) on matted cover in the classic raiga style, bass over shallow reservoir weed, catfish (namazu) at dusk when the rattle helps them find it.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Saratoga and barramundi (siakap) over lily-covered billabongs and weedy creek arms; pike over weed beds in European lakes and canals.
