Luresfactory Bufo Let's Go V.8 4.5cm 8g Hardbody Topwater

At 4.5cm and 8g the Bufo Let's Go V.8 is the lightest frog in the Let's Go range, and that is what it is for. Less mass over the same short body means it floats higher, lands with the least splash of any version, and holds its action at a crawl — speeds at which the 11g and 12g frogs simply plough. It is also the easiest to skip across matted salvinia, duckweed and lily pads, because there is less weight pressing it down into the mat. The trade-off is worth knowing before you buy: 8g casts the shortest distance in the range and is first to be pushed off line by wind, so this is a short-to-medium range bait for sheltered water, not a tool for reaching across an open reservoir. The colourful hard body gives a clear visual target and a flexible silicone skirt opens and pulses behind it. Close-fitting rear double hooks keep hook exposure lower than a treble around vegetation, though no lure is completely snag-free.

Key Features

  • Hard-body topwater frog, 4.5cm and 8g — the lightest in the range
  • Small prey profile with the highest float of the Let's Go frogs
  • Flexible silicone skirt creates lively movement and vibration
  • Close-fitting rear double-hook configuration
  • Bright, highly visible colour patterns
  • Seven colour patterns, 81 to 87

How To Fish It

  • Crawl it — Wind as slowly as you can while still keeping the body moving. The V.8 keeps working at speeds no heavier frog will hold, which is what turns cold or heavily fished water.
  • Hop the mats — Light downward taps skip it over matted weed and pads. It clears a thick mat with far less effort than the 11g and 12g versions and drops softly into every open hole.
  • Small water and pressured fish — Drains, farm ponds, canal corners and clear margins where fish have seen large frogs all season. The smaller profile and quiet entry are the advantage.
  • Twitch and long pause — Two short twitches, then stop for three seconds or more. Because it floats high, it sits and the skirt keeps breathing; most takes come during that stop.
  • Pause before setting — Striking at the splash pulls a hard body clear. Wind through the blow-up, wait for the rod to load with the fish, then sweep sideways.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Striped snakehead (haruan) in drains, paddy channels and small ponds; mid-size giant snakehead (toman) in weeded margins; peacock bass in lily pockets; hampala barb (sebarau) in shallow river runs.
  • North America — Largemouth bass in ponds, creek backwaters and duckweed-covered corners; chain pickerel and bowfin in shallow swamps.
  • Japan & East Asia — Snakehead (raigyo) in small canals and irrigation ponds, catfish (namazu) at dusk, bass in shallow weedy margins.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Saratoga in lily-covered billabongs, sooty grunter in creek pools; perch and small pike over weed beds in European canals.

Where it sits in the Let's Go range:

Version Length Weight Best at
V.8 4.5cm 8g Lightest — pressured fish, thick mats
V.2 4.5cm 8.5g High-floating, slow-speed work over cover — colours 21–27
V.6 4.5cm 8.5g Same body and weight as V.2 — colours 61–67
V.4 5cm 11g Large profile, accurate placement
V.1 4.5cm 11.5g Compact profile, long-cast weight
V.3 5cm 12g Large profile, distance and wake
V.7 5.5cm 12g Longest body, highest float for its weight
V.5 5cm 12.9g Heavier 5cm body — distance without the deep sit of the 15g
V.9 5cm 15g Heaviest — maximum distance and wind

Recommended Pairing

  • Medium to medium-heavy rod that loads properly with an 8g lure — a heavy frog stick will not cast this weight well
  • 20–40 lb braid straight through; enough to lift fish from weed without killing casting distance
  • Baitcaster suited to light lures, or a 2000–2500 size spinning reel with a fast retrieve
