Hayabusa Pikaichi Stick / Ototo Stick 11cm — SR206 / SR207 / SR213

These are individual 11cm squid sticks, sold one per pack as replacement or custom-rig parts rather than as a finished set. Hayabusa lists them in its Funa Ika Hitosuji boat-squid range as the Pikaichi Stick — the same sutte used on the brand's ready-tied doutsuki dropper rigs, sold locally as Ototo sticks. Each is a slim translucent fish-shaped body, balanced to sink upright and hold a stable posture on the pause, with stainless crown hooks at the tail. Buying them singly lets you build your own dropper rig, replace a damaged stick, or run two or three patterns on one leader to see what squid are taking that night.

Key Features

  • 11 cm stick sutte for boat and shore squid fishing, supplied one per pack
  • SR206 — plain Pikaichi Stick with a double-layer crown hook
  • SR207 — Switch Dot pattern with a single-layer crown hook
  • SR213 — Switch Zebra pattern with a single-layer crown hook
  • Sharp stainless crown points that hold squid without a barb
  • Keimura (UV-reactive), fluorescent and light-tone finishes for day and night use
  • Front attachment loop for fast rigging onto a branch line

How To Fish It

  • Build a dropper rig — Tie two to five sticks onto branch lines 60–100 cm apart above a sinker or a weighted metal squid jig. Keep branch lines short enough that a stick cannot reach the one below it.
  • Lift, then hold — Raise the rod smoothly through three to five winds, stop dead, and hold for five to ten seconds. Squid clasp on the pause and the fall, not the lift. Search upward in stages until you find the depth.
  • Never strike — A take feels like sudden extra weight. Lean into it slowly, then wind at one unbroken speed — slack line is how squid come off crown hooks.
  • Choose the pattern by light — Keimura (#1) works under UV and in the blue light of dusk and depth. Fluorescent pink and blue (#4, #5) stand out under deck lights and in stained water. Light blue, light pink and light green (#2, #3, #6) are the quieter choices for clear, well-lit water.
  • Dot, zebra or plain — The Switch Dot panel on SR207 gives squid a defined point to close on; the Switch Zebra bars on SR213 give a broader flicker as the stick falls. SR206's plain body is the low-key option, and its double-layer hook is the one to run when squid are large.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Sotong (bigfin reef squid) and cuttlefish on night candat sotong trips from Malaysian, Thai and Indonesian ports, over reef edges, wrecks and deep jetty ground.
  • North America — Market squid on Pacific night boats, and squid taken deliberately for fresh bait before rockfish and tuna trips.
  • Japan & East Asia — Kensaki-ika, yariika and surume-ika on the boat doutsuki system these sticks were designed for, plus aoriika where the ranges overlap.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari and arrow squid from boats and deep jetties; cuttlefish on Gulf marks; European squid on Mediterranean night grounds.

Recommended Pairing

  • Boat squid or light jigging rod with a soft tip, so a pause can be held without lifting the sticks

  • 2500–3000 size spinning reel with a smooth start-up drag
  • Sinker or a weighted metal squid jig at the bottom of the rig, sized to hold under the drift
