Hayabusa list the FF311 as the T·N·S Offset Heavy Duty, a heavy wire model built to stand up to forceful fights with big bass, produced under the direction of Japanese professional Toshinari Namiki. The thinking is simple: braided PE line has almost no stretch, so the whole hookset arrives at the hook instead of being absorbed by the line, and a standard-gauge worm hook can open under that load. The FF311 answers with thicker wire through the bend and a rounded offset profile that suits a wide range of worm and creature shapes rather than one narrow body type. The gap is deep enough that a thick soft plastic can collapse on the strike and leave the point clear, while the offset shoulder locks the head of the bait against the eye so it does not slide down the shank after a few casts. A low-friction fluorine coating reduces the resistance the point meets going in. Seven sizes here, #2 to #5/0.

How To Rig It

• Texas rig — Point in through the nose, out the belly, rotate, then re-enter so the point sits just under the skin. Keep the bait straight along the shank or it will spin and twist the line.
• Heavy cover flipping — Pitch a craw or creature under a 1/2–1 oz pegged bullet weight into matted grass or timber, let it punch through, and set hard once the line moves. This is the load the heavy wire exists for.
• Weedless swimbait — #4/0 and #5/0 through a paddle-tail, wound steadily over weed with the point flush against the back.
• Setting the hook on braid — Reel down to remove slack first, then sweep. With no stretch in the line a snapped, short hookset tends to tear rather than drive the point.

• Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) and haruan punched into weed and lily pads, peacock bass and hampala barb (sebarau) in flooded reservoir timber, barramundi (siakap) worked through mangrove roots and jetty pilings.
• North America — Largemouth and spotted bass flipped into grass mats, laydowns and docks; also pike over weed and redfish across inshore grass flats.
• Japan & East Asia — Black bass in reservoirs and rivers, the fishery this pattern was developed for, particularly heavy cover work with PE line.

Which Hayabusa worm hook? The FF311 is the heavy-tackle offset. Its sibling, the WRM951, comes from the same designer but is a short-shank standard-wire hook that runs down to #4 for finesse work.
