Decoy Single31 Tracin' Single Hook — Made In Japan

The Single31 Tracin' Single is a sproat-bend long-shank hook built for lures you trace through the water rather than jerk or drop — spoons, spinners and small metal jigs, the retrieve-driven baits the name refers to. Converting those from treble to single is standard practice wherever fish are released or regulations require it, and a single also fouls weed, net and bottom far less often. Where Katsuichi's Single30 Spoonin' is a dedicated hook for 1–7 g spoons, the Single31 is the larger, longer, more general pattern: it steps up from trout tackle into light and medium salt water, and it doubles as a replacement hook on soft jig heads and as a trailer hook behind a football jig.

The shape follows the job. A long taper into a straight point penetrates sharply and smoothly, which matters on a single hook where one point does all the work. The eye is wide, so a split ring goes on without a fight and the hook swings freely on it. A micro barb holds the fish without adding the resistance a full barb creates on the way in — useful on light drags and quick releases alike. The finish is NS Black, which raises wire hardness and durability. Supplied in #2 and #4.

How To Rig It

• Spoon or spinner conversion — Fit it to the tail split ring with the point riding upward, then retrieve at the slowest speed that keeps the blade working. Most takes come as the rod loads, so lift rather than strike.
• Small metal jig — A single at the tail ring casts straighter and tangles the leader far less than a treble on the drop. Work the jig with short lifts and let it flutter back.
• Football jig trailer — Add it on a short ring behind the jig to convert fish that nip at the skirt instead of eating it.
• Soft jig head replacement — Use it to re-hook flexible jig heads whose original hook has been bent or dulled.
