The KR-24 Light Special is the finesse specialist of the KR light game range — a fine wire, slim profile single hook for situations where anything heavier costs you bites. The thin wire and narrow silhouette penetrate on the softest takes, which is what light game demands when a fish inhales a small lure and lets go in the same second. Because it weighs so little, it does not load the nose of a micro jig or small plastic and flatten its action. Four sizes, #2 to #5, in a low-visibility black nickel finish, ten hooks per pack.

How To Rig It

• Micro jig assist or rear single — Attach with a split ring so it swings freely; a rigid mount kills the flutter on the drop.
• Small soft plastic, nose rig — Pass the point in through the nose and out within a few millimetres so the body hangs straight and the tail stays free.
• Plug replacement single — Fit one facing forward at the belly and one rearward at the tail on small hard baits; this fouls less than trebles.
• Light bait — Hook a short worm section or a single small shrimp once only, leaving the point exposed.

• Southeast Asia — Small trevally, queenfish, fingermark and mangrove jack on micro jigs and plastics around jetty lights.
• North America — Crappie, perch, trout and smallmouth bass on finesse plastics; speckled trout inshore.

Specifications

Choosing within the KR series — by bait, fish size and line class. KR-24 is the finest-wire, lure-oriented hook. Use KR-21 Live Bait Light instead when the bait is alive and must stay that way, KR-22 All Purpose when heavier fish are a real possibility, KR-25 Sandworm for threading marine worms, KR-26 Mini-Worm for tiny worm sections, and KR-27 Strong-Mini when you want a small hook that will not straighten.

Recommended Pairing

• Ultralight to light spinning rod, 0.2–0.4 PE braid or 2–6 lb monofilament
• 3–8 lb fluorocarbon leader; keep it short in clear water so the rig stays sensitive
• 0.5–5 g jig heads and 3–15 g micro jigs sit best on this wire gauge
• Set the drag light — fine wire holds through a steady bend, not through a hard strike
