How To Fish It

• Pop and pause — Sharp downward rod-tip pulls with slack line, one pop at a time, then a pause of two to three seconds. Let the bubble trail clear before the next input.
• Continuous chugging — String three or four pops together with no pause to call fish from distance in choppy water or over deeper reef.
• Walk the dog — Short rhythmic twitches on a semi-slack line make the head swing side to side, which often out-fishes a loud pop when the water is flat calm.
• Fish the tide edges — Work colour changes, current lines and the shallow side of a reef in the first and last two hours of light.
