The Anglar S-75M Single Hook Pack 4508 Fishing Hook

The S-75M is the odd one out in this range: not a bait hook at all, but a single-hook replacement for lures. It is built for anglers converting minnows, plugs and other hard baits from trebles to singles — a change made for better hook-up-to-landing ratios, less damage to fish, easier unhooking, and fewer tangles in nets and landing mats. The build reflects that job. The wire is 2X strong, so it resists opening when a fish loads it against a rod and a tight drag. The eye is a large ring, sized to take a split ring rather than a knot. The point is an eagle-cutting, chemically sharpened design set straight in line with the eye, so pull from the tow point runs directly to the point instead of levering it sideways. The black nickel finish is low-glare and holds up better in salt than a bronze plating.

Key Features

  • Single-hook replacement for treble-equipped minnows and hard baits
  • 2X-strong wire — extra resistance to bending or opening under heavy load
  • Large ring eye sized for split rings and heavy leader
  • Straight, in-line point aligned with the eye for a direct pull
  • Eagle-cutting, chemically sharpened point for fast penetration
  • Sharp retaining barb
  • Black nickel finish: low glare, better corrosion resistance than bronze
  • Four sizes: #6, #1, #1/0 and #2/0

Ringed vs flatted eye. The Sode and Akita hooks elsewhere in this range are flatted — the shank end is pressed flat, there is no eye, and the knot must be whipped on, which keeps a fine-line bait rig slim. This hook does the opposite job and so uses a large closed ring: it is stronger, it takes a split ring or a snap, and it will not fail at the connection when a fish hits a lure at speed.

How To Rig It

  • Converting a lure — Remove the trebles with split ring pliers and fit a single of similar gape. Common practice is one hook at the belly hanger and one at the tail, or tail only on a lure that fouls easily.
  • Point direction — Hang the belly hook point facing forward (toward the nose) and the tail hook point facing up. This keeps the point clear of the lure body and out of the way on the retrieve.
  • Check the swimming action — Singles weigh less than the trebles they replace. Swim the lure boatside first; if it rolls or sits nose-high, step up a split ring size or move to the next hook size to restore balance.
  • Assist and jig use — The large eye and strong wire also suit tying onto assist cord for metal jigs and micro jigs on light gear.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Casting minnows and jigs for hampala barb (sebarau), peacock bass, giant snakehead (toman) and barramundi (siakap); queenfish, trevally and small grouper off jetties and rock walls.
  • North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye and pike on jerkbaits and crankbaits; inshore redfish, speckled trout and striped bass on minnows and plugs.
  • Japan & East Asia — Standard practice on seabass (suzuki) minnows, shore jigging and light rock fish game; also used on micro jigs and for mebaru and kasago plugs.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, flathead and barramundi on hard bodies; queenfish and trevally on Gulf flats; pike, perch and zander on European lakes, where single hooks are often preferred or required.

Specifications

Size Pieces Per Pack SKU
#6 10 45086
#1 8 45081
#1/0 7 450801
#2/0 6 450802

Finish: black nickel throughout. Sizes use Western numbering — #6 is the smallest, then #1, and 1/0 and 2/0 are larger again.

Recommended Pairing

  • #6 and #1 for 50–90 mm minnows, small crankbaits and micro jigs on light spinning tackle
  • #1/0 and #2/0 for 90–140 mm minnows, poppers and casting jigs on medium to medium-heavy tackle
  • 10–40 lb braid with a fluorocarbon leader; match split ring strength to the hook rather than the lure's originals
  • Add a short wire trace where toothy species are present
