Same A frame, bright finish: the 64DCRLA pairs a Dura ring with a chrome-finished 316 stainless frame. What makes an A frame worth the extra wrap is geometry. Two legs rise from separate feet and meet at one apex, so the ring is triangulated rather than balanced on a single stalk, and any force twisting it sideways is met by the far leg. The spread feet matter too — a hard run loads the blank at two wrap positions rather than driving everything into one. That is why A frames end up on rods pulled across their own axis: boat work, heavy sinkers, fish that change direction under the tip. The 316 stainless is the marine grade, chosen where salt sits on a frame for long periods. Dura is the maker's harder-wearing ring material, positioned against the lighter Nano ring — a product-line position, not a tested figure. The seat is Ring Lock (US Patent D627,032).

How To Build With It

  • Chrome or black is a build decision — This and the 64DBRLA are the same A frame with the same eight ring sizes. Chrome suits light blanks and metallic thread; go black if glare bothers you.
  • Getting the feet right — File each foot to a long, thin taper, dry-fit for rocking, then wrap the feet separately. On the 25 and 30 mm guides the feet are long, so burnish the thread down well.
  • Stripper by knot, not by chart — Pull your real FG or PR connection through a 30 mm and a 25 mm ring by hand. The one that passes without catching is the stripper.
  • Spacing and sealing — Roughly one guide per foot of blank plus one, then static test under a hanging weight and shift the taped guides until the line follows the curve. Finish with two thin coats of epoxy.
