The Anglar Blade Spoon — Water Drop / Long Leaf Blade

These are spinner blades on a 360-degree swivel: components for building and repairing lures, not finished lures. A blade is the cheapest way to change how a rig is found — it flashes as it turns and pushes a low-frequency pulse ahead of it, so a fish locates the bait from outside its visual range without the bait itself getting any bigger. Swap the tired blade on a spinnerbait, hang one under an underspin jig head, add one to the rear split ring of a metal jig, or thread them onto a dropper to build a flasher rig.

Water Drop or Long Leaf — this is the whole decision. The two shapes are not colour variants of one another; they behave differently in the water and they suit opposite conditions.

  • Water Drop — the broad rounded teardrop, in the Colorado family. It catches a lot of water, so it stands well out from the shaft, turns slowly, and throws a heavy thumping vibration you feel through the rod. The drag also lifts the lure, letting you retrieve very slowly without sinking. Take it for muddy or stained water, night fishing, cold or lethargic fish — anywhere the fish finds the lure by feel before it sees it.
  • Long Leaf — the slim willow-leaf shape. It cuts the water instead of catching it, so it turns fast and close to the shaft, gives far more flashes per second, and makes much less vibration and drag. It holds depth at speed and slips through grass rather than fouling. Take it for clear water, bright days, fast retrieves, current, and fish keyed on slim baitfish.

The simple rule: if the fish must feel it, fit a Water Drop. If the fish will see it, fit a Long Leaf. If you are unsure, start with the Water Drop — vibration carries further than flash.

Key Features

  • Two profiles: Water Drop (broad teardrop, slow turn, strong vibration) and Long Leaf (slim, fast turn, high flash)
  • Built-in 360-degree rotating swivel for free rotation and reduced line twist
  • Highly reflective blade surface
  • Listed in four finishes — silver, black nickel, rose gold and gold
  • Water Drop in sizes #1 to #5; Long Leaf in sizes #1 to #3
  • Fits spinnerbaits, underspin jig heads, metal jigs, soft-plastic rigs and custom lure builds

How To Use It

  • Re-blade a spinnerbait — Open the split ring or clevis and fit the blade that suits the water. One body plus both shapes covers more conditions than two complete lures.
  • Under an underspin jig head — Clip a blade to the lower eyelet of an underspin head and slow-roll a paddle tail. The blade supplies the signal so the plastic can stay small and natural.
  • On the tail of a metal jig — A small blade on the rear split ring adds flutter and flash on the drop for slow-pitch and shore casting jigs. Keep it small so it does not kill the jig’s fall.
  • Build a flasher rig — Thread blades onto a wire or heavy mono dropper ahead of a bait hook for trolling and drift bottom work.
  • Retrieve speed — Wind just fast enough to keep the blade turning. With a Water Drop that is very slow; a Long Leaf needs noticeably more speed before it spins.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman), haruan and hampala barb (sebarau) on spinnerbaits in stained reservoirs; barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack on bladed rigs in turbid river mouths; queenfish and small trevally on jig-tail blades.
  • North America — The core bass blade choice: Colorado shapes for muddy spring water and night fishing, willow for clear summer grass; also pike, muskie, walleye and redfish.
  • Japan & East Asia — Blade tuning for black bass spinnerbaits, and small blades on slow-pitch jigs and seabass rigs around harbour lights.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Barramundi and sooty grunter on northern Australian spinnerbaits; pike, perch and zander on European spinners and lure builds; queenfish and small trevally on Gulf flats.

Each blade is supplied with its rotating swivel attached. Finish is not a selectable option in the list above. Blade sizes rise with the number, so #5 is the largest Water Drop offered and #3 the largest Long Leaf.

Recommended Pairing

  • #1–#2 blades: 3–10 g underspin and jig heads, light spinning tackle, PE 0.6–1.0 braid
  • #3–#5 blades: 10 g and heavier spinnerbaits and jig heads, medium to medium-heavy rod, PE 1.0–2.0 braid
  • Use a split ring or a small snap so blades can be changed on the water rather than re-tied
  • Rinse the swivel in fresh water after salt use; a seized swivel spins the whole rig and twists the line
