The Pop FrogZ is a soft-bodied topwater frog with a deeply cupped popping face and hybrid curly-paddle legs. Twitched on a slack line it spits, chugs and gurgles like a hard popper, but the soft body collapses on the strike and gives the hook a clear path. Z-Man rates ElaZtech as super-buoyant, so the frog floats horizontally even with a heavy-gauge hook and even sitting dead still between twitches — which is why it can be worked as slowly as the fish demand. Z-Man also rates the 10X Tough material as resisting ripping and tearing. Supplied 4" long, four per pack, in six colours.

How To Fish It

• Popping over open water — Rig weedless, cast past the target and give short downward rod-tip snaps with slack in the line so the cupped face grabs water and spits. Pause two to three seconds between pops; most fish commit while it sits still.
• Walking through weed and pads — Cadence the twitches side to side so the frog glides across lily pads, hyacinth mats and grass edges. Stop it in every open pocket and let the legs settle.
• Steady swim — Wind slowly and steadily so the legs kick and the frog leaves a wake. Useful over submerged grass in low light when a loud pop puts fish off.
• Delayed hookset — Wait until the rod loads before sweeping. Fish often miss on a blow-up, and the buoyant body returns straight to the surface for a second chance.

• Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) and forest snakehead (haruan) over weed mats and flooded timber, peacock bass in reservoirs, and barramundi (siakap) along mangrove edges on a rising tide.
• North America — Largemouth bass in pads, hyacinth and matted grass; pike and chain pickerel on weedy lake margins; bowfin in southern backwaters.
