YOZURI - SQUID JIG "ULTRA" CLOTH 75mm/95mm - A1703/A330 SQUID HOOK SQUID FISHING
Yozuri Squid Jig "Ultra" Cloth 75 mm / 95 mm — A1703 / A330
This pair sits in the same Ultra Cloth family as the M2-crowned 70/90/95 mm models, but is put together for a different job: A1703 is the small 75 mm size for finicky squid, and A330 is the 95 mm body fitted with the Y2 crown. That crown is the point of difference. Yo-Zuri's M2 is a rounded two-stage arrangement; the Y2 is the squid-specific curve, opened out so the points sit under a squid's arms as it draws the body back. Both bodies are fabric-wrapped over a balanced, near-neutral core, so they hang level and drift rather than dive — sutte behaviour, not egi behaviour.
Key Features
- A1703 — SSS size, 75 mm, M2 crown, listed weight 10 g
- A330 — S size, 95 mm, Y2 crown, listed weight 13 g
- Y2 is the squid-shaped crown; M2 is the rounded general-purpose crown
- Luminous and clear-glow finishes; charge them under a deck light before each drop
- Swivel-fitted eye that limits line twist on branch and dropper rigs
- Stainless crown hooks, corrosion resistant
How To Fish It
- Choose the crown before the colour — Take the Y2 95 mm when squid are committing properly and you want maximum hold on big fish. Drop to the 75 mm M2 when they are following, touching and letting go — the smaller body is easier for a hesitant squid to take fully.
- Lift, stop, count — Drop to the depth showing squid, lift smoothly through two or three winds, then stop dead and hold for five to ten seconds. The take almost always comes in the stillness, not the lift.
- Run both on one rig — Set the 95 mm on the lower branch and the 75 mm above it; whichever gets hit first sets your size for the session.
- Sweep, never strike — A take registers as dead weight or a tip that fails to spring back. Load the rod smoothly and wind at a constant speed; pumping pulls the crown free of soft tentacles.
- Where it sits in the Ultra range — At 10 g and 13 g these fall in the middle of the Ultra family. The Ultra 3D Cloth and Ultra 3D Laser DX hold far higher in the water, the 5 g Ultra Bait drifts slower still, and the Ultra DX is the model built to get down and stay down in current.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Sotong torak and sotong katak on candat sotong trips out of Terengganu, Pahang and the Indonesian islands, on multi-branch droppers under the lights; the 75 mm also works off lit jetties.
- North America — Market squid around Pacific piers, breakwalls and lit moorings, worked down through the pilings after dark.
- Japan & East Asia — Kensaki-ika and yariika on boat sutte and ikametal rigs, where the Y2 crown is the usual choice for larger squid; also used across Korea and Taiwan.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari and arrow squid from deep jetties and boats in South Australia and Tasmania; European squid and cuttlefish on Mediterranean night marks.
