The Crystal 3D Minnow Magnum is the big-bait end of the Crystal 3D range, built for offshore trolling and boat casting rather than light tackle. At 165mm and 42g it presents a full-size baitfish silhouette, and the through-wire body means the load from a hooked fish runs through a single wire rather than moulded hook hangers. It floats at rest and works shallow on the troll, holding a tight wiggle with an erratic side-to-side recovery — the action that draws strikes from pelagics running down a bait school or weed line. An internal rattle chamber adds sound in murky water, and the patented internal 3D Prism Finish is sealed inside the body so the flash survives repeated hits.

How To Fish It

• Flat-line trolling — Run it 30–60 m behind the boat at roughly 4–7 knots and watch the rod tip for a steady beat. If the beat goes slack or the tip stops working, wind in and clear the weed.
• Troll the edges — Work weed lines, current seams, reef drop-offs and FADs rather than open blue water. Turn the boat regularly so the inside lure slows and drops while the outside one speeds up; strikes often come on the turn.
• Cast at bait schools — When fish work the surface, cast past the school and use a medium retrieve with occasional hard twitches so the lure breaks sideways out of line.
• Stop and float — On a follow, kill the retrieve and let it float up for a second before restarting. The change of direction often converts the fish.
• Adjust the run — In clear, calm conditions run it further back and slower; in chop and coloured water bring it closer, where the rattle and prism flash work harder.

• Southeast Asia — Spanish mackerel (tenggiri), giant trevally (gerepoh), queenfish (talang), barracuda and small tuna trolled around reef edges, wrecks and FADs off Rompin and East Malaysia.
• North America — King mackerel, dorado, wahoo, blackfin and little tunny offshore, plus striped bass and bluefish trolled along rips and inlets.
• Japan & East Asia — Yellowtail (buri) and amberjack (hiramasa) trolled and cast around islands and current lines, plus large seabass and GT in Okinawa and the southern islands.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Spanish mackerel, longtail tuna, queenfish and GT across northern Australia and the Gulf; bluefish, leerfish and amberjack trolled on Mediterranean and Atlantic marks.
