The Sabiki Apollo lure set is crafted with special glitter aurora thread, with a UV effect on the knot for low light and night fishing. Santec also lists it as Aurora Thread / Red Mark 4345. A sabiki (サビキ) is a Japanese bait rig: one trace, a row of short droppers with a small dressed hook on each, and a bait cage or sinker below.

Aurora thread is the flash option. It is a reflective filament rather than a skin or feather, thin enough to twist constantly, so it throws short, fast bursts of light instead of the slow shimmer a fish-skin flank gives. That high flicker rate pulls schooling baitfish in from a distance. The UV effect on the knot reflects ultraviolet already present in daylight rather than producing light of its own — that is what separates it from a glow rig: UV wants light in the water, glow works when there is none.

How To Fish It

• Set up and chum — Clip the top swivel to your line, hang a bait cage below to keep the string vertical, lower it to the school, then shake the rod to spread mashed shrimp or krill.
• Fast, short jigging — Aurora thread rewards a quicker cadence than skin. Lift the tip 20–30 cm in short, sharp strokes so the filament keeps flickering, then pause.
• Best in daylight — Work it through the middle of the day and over deeper water, where the UV knot still registers after colour has washed out.
• Read the taps, never strike — Bites are continuous light tremors, not one knock. Wind steadily, swing a loaded string in rather than lifting it clear, unhook from the bottom dropper up, and put keepers in an aerated pail as live bait.
