Santec Rolling Swivel With Brass Weight 79111 Black Nickel

The 79111 is a rolling swivel with a brass weight formed onto the body — a swivel and a sinker in one fitting. In an ordinary rig the ballast is separate: a sliding sinker, a bead to protect the knot, sometimes a stopper. Here the weight sits on the swivel itself, on the axis it turns about, so the rig loses a component, a knot, and the slam of a sliding lead dropping onto the swivel every cast. How To Rig It

  • Inline leader ballast — Main line to the top eye, leader and bait or soft plastic below. The connection is one piece: nothing slides, nothing needs a bead, and the ballast cannot separate in a tangle.
  • Drifting a bait in current — This is what the fitting is for. Step up one size at a time until the bait tracks at the depth and speed you want. Because the weight is part of the connector, you change ballast by changing one fitting rather than rebuilding the rig.
  • Getting a light bait out — Add casting weight ahead of an unweighted plastic or a small live bait without hanging a lead off the line.
  • Slow-sinking presentations — Use the lowest number that still sinks. The small steps tune the fall rate more finely than a jump between stock lead sizes.
  • Sizing — The numbers run low to high, with fewer pieces per pack as they rise. Start light for still water and clear conditions, heavier for current, depth and wind.
