Santec HD Bom Spring 6635 — Heavy Duty Bait Spring, 3 Pieces
The Santec 6635 HD Bom Spring is the heavy-duty member of the bom spring family. Made from high-tension spring steel in a cone-shaped coil, it grips bait harder and keeps its shape after repeated loading — the point at which lighter springs start to open out and lose bait on the cast. The cone taper means the coils are widest at the base, so a large bait ball can be packed in and still stays locked in place. A corrosion-resistant finish makes it suitable for both freshwater and saltwater use, and the integrated top loop connects straight to a line, swivel or made-up rig. It suits anglers running dough, paste and other mouldable mixes on bottom and bomb rigs, particularly where big fish, long casts or coarse baits punish a standard spring. Supplied in a pack of three.
Key Features

- Cone-shaped coil grips bait firmly and reduces bait loss on the cast
- Open cone allows quick bait loading
- Corrosion-resistant finish for freshwater and saltwater environments
- Integrated top loop connects to line, swivel or rig
- Value pack: 3 pieces per pack
How To Fish It
- Get the mix right — Add water slowly until the bait holds when squeezed but still crumbles. Too wet and it slips off in the air; too dry and it never breaks down on the bottom.
- Pack the cone from the base — Press bait into the wide end first, work it up the taper, then mould the outside smooth. Cast with a smooth loaded stroke, not a hard snap.
- Bomb rig — Attach at the top loop with a sinker above or below to suit the swim, then run droppers of roughly 3–6 cm so the hooks sit in the bait ball.
- Bait the spot first — Three or four loaded casts to one marker build a feeding zone before the hooks matter. Reload every 10–20 minutes early, longer once fish settle.
- Saltwater use — Rinse in fresh water after a session; the finish handles salt, but bait residue in the coils does not.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Heavy mata bom work in Malaysian and Indonesian kolam pancing for big catfish (keli), carp (ikan kap) and patin, and saltwater sessions off jetties and river mouths for threadfin (senangin), golden snapper and bream.
- North America — Coil-spring rigs for large channel, blue and flathead catfish on punch and dough bait, and carp in big rivers.
- Japan & East Asia — A robust take on the dango-zuri bait ball for carp (koi) and black seabream (chinu) from breakwaters.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — The heavy end of method-feeder style fishing for European carp and catfish; also tilapia and catfish in Gulf ponds and canals.
