Santec Cross Line Rolling Swivel NSB 7914

The 7914 is the cross line rolling swivel — a three-way fitting where the branch eye crosses the main axis of the body, so the main line runs straight through the swivel while the third eye stands off to the side. It is the everyday three-way: one small fitting turns a straight leader into a rig with a dropper on it, and the rolling body stops a bait spinning in current from winding twist up the line. Five sizes, #4 through #2/0, under the NSB designation.

How To Rig It

• Paternoster (dropper) rig — Main line to the top eye, sinker link off the branch eye, baited trace from the bottom eye. The bait sits above the bottom and works clear of the lead — the standard reef, jetty and surf rig.
• Two-bait rig — Run a second short trace off the branch eye to fish two depths at once. Keep it shorter than the gap to the next hook so the two cannot meet.
• Trolling dropper — Lure from the bottom eye, sinker or teaser from the branch. You change trolling depth without rebuilding the leader.
• How it differs from the other three-ways — The 7914 cross line is the general-purpose one: single size designations, the smallest sizes of the group, and the most pieces per pack. The 7916 T-type sets the branch off a straight bar at a fixed right angle and puts the swivel on the branch leg, in black nickel. The 7913 treble is the other NSB three-way. The 7924 oyako differs in kind — a large parent eye paired with a small child eye, sold in size pairs like #2 x 3, for hanging a lighter trace off a heavier rig.
• Knots — Palomar to the top eye on braid, uni on the other two. Tie the sinker link on lighter line so a snagged lead breaks off and the rig comes back.
