S.A.S Broken Leaf Spoon 15g

The S.A.S Broken Leaf Spoon 37904 is a 15g metal lure built around an asymmetrical, broken-leaf outline rather than the usual symmetrical oval. That irregular shape is the point: instead of the even, predictable wobble every other spoon produces, the body swims unstably and changes direction at random, so the lure reads as a weakened or injured baitfish rather than a healthy one moving in a straight line. On a steady retrieve the curved metal wobbles from side to side and throws light in scattered directions; the moment the retrieve is paused, the spoon falls with a wide, uneven flutter that regularly triggers fish that have followed without committing. That erratic signature is why an odd-shaped spoon is worth carrying in pressured water, where fish see the same handful of lures every weekend and have learned to ignore a uniform action. A front swivel limits line twist, and the No. 6 black-nickel treble gives reliable contact on the strike.

Key Features

  • Asymmetrical broken-leaf body creates an irregular, unpredictable action
  • Wide fluttering fall on the pause — the strike trigger for following fish
  • Precision-balanced 15g body casts well on light and medium tackle
  • No. 6 black-nickel treble hook
  • Front swivel helps reduce line twist
  • Seven colour patterns for varied light and water conditions
  • Suitable for freshwater and saltwater predatory fishing

How To Fish It

  • Retrieve and pause — Wind three to five turns, then stop dead and let the spoon flutter down on a semi-slack line. The fall is where this lure earns its keep; watch the line and strike at any tick, jump or unexpected slack.
  • Vertical lift and drop — From a boat or a high jetty, drop to the bottom, lift the rod 50–80 cm, and let the spoon flutter back on a controlled line.
  • Cast up-current — In river or tidal flow, cast up and across and let the current swing the spoon broadside.
  • For pressured fish — Where fish refuse a standard spoon or minnow, slow everything down and use longer pauses. The irregular flutter is a different signal from anything else in the box.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) in clear rivers and reservoirs, peacock bass, giant snakehead (toman), and small queenfish, trevally and barracuda around jetties and rock edges.
  • North America — Trout, pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, crappie and perch across lakes and rivers; a proven cold-water and clear-water option.
  • Japan & East Asia — Trout in managed ponds and mountain lakes, where irregular-profile spoons are a standard answer to fish that have seen too many lures, plus rockfish on light game tackle.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, flathead and bream in estuaries; small trevally and queenfish on Gulf flats; perch, pike, zander and trout throughout European lakes, rivers and canals.

Recommended Pairing

  • 6'–7'6" light or medium-light spinning rod rated to around 20–25g, with a 2000–3000 size reel
  • PE 0.6–1.2 braid with a 12–20 lb fluorocarbon leader, or 8–12 lb monofilament
  • Fish it on a semi-slack line during the pause — a tight line stops the flutter and turns the fall into a slide
