Megabass Oneten Magnum 130mm 17.7g Floating Jerkbait

The Oneten Magnum builds on the Vision Oneten's tournament record with a larger profile and a different internal approach. Where many big jerkbaits use decentralised balancer systems, the Magnum runs a specially tuned internal fixed-weight balancer plate, which keeps the action responsive and the bait swimming stable at size. It dives to about 2 feet (60cm). On a slow retrieve it gives an alluring wobble that reads like a schooling baitfish; wind it faster and it switches to a high-pitch rolling action; stop it and the Magnum wobbles subtly and floats up head-first, the way a baitfish behaves trying to escape a predator. The larger body puts a bigger meal in front of cautious fish that have seen a season of standard-sized jerkbaits.

How To Fish It

• Snap and float — Two sharp downward snaps, then stop and let the bait rise head-first. The slow escape-style ascent is the trigger, so give it three to five seconds before moving again.
• Slow wobble over structure — A steady slow wind puts it in schooling-baitfish mode. Run it over shallow grass tops, rock bars and flats where fish are pushing bait upward.
• Burn it — When fish are chasing, wind fast so the bait rolls at high pitch, then kill it dead. The abrupt stop after speed draws reaction strikes.
• Match a big-bait window — Use the 130mm profile in low light, in stained water, or late in the season when fish are keyed on larger forage.
