MEGABASS - DD GRIFFON 6CC 50mm 10.6g FLOATING CRANKBAIT LURE CASTING DEEP
Megabass DD Griffon 6CC 50mm 10.6g Floating Deep-Diving Crankbait
The DD Griffon 6CC is the deep-diving member of the Griffon family, carrying the compact 50mm body that made the Griffon a shallow-water standard and putting it on a long lip so it works down at 2.0–2.5 m (roughly 7–8 ft). The "6cc" refers to the body's buoyancy volume — a high buoyancy rating for the size, which is what keeps the action crisp and the wobble wide at depth instead of going dull the way a heavier deep crank can. That same buoyancy makes it back out of trouble: the head shape and lip form are designed to deflect off obstacles and handle contact with a shallow bottom, so it can be fished hard into rock and stumps rather than tiptoed around them. Small profile with real depth is an unusual combination, and it is why this bait works when fish have pulled out to structure but are eating small forage.
Key Features
- Floating deep-diving crankbait, 50mm (2 in), 10.6g (3/8 oz)
- Working depth of 2.0–2.5 m (about 7–8 ft)
- Compact Griffon body with a long deep-diving lip
- High 6cc buoyancy rating keeps the action crisp and lively at depth
- Head and lip form designed for obstacle deflection and shallow-bottom contact
- Floats at rest, so it rises clear of snags on a pause
- Made in Japan
How To Fish It
- Bottom contact grind — Cast long, drop the rod tip and wind steadily until you feel the lip ticking bottom. Keep it in contact through the whole sweet spot of the retrieve; the digging is doing the work.
- Deflect and pause — When it hits a rock or stump, stop for a count of one. The buoyancy lifts it clear and the change of direction is the trigger.
- Downsize on pressured water — Where a full-size deep crank has been refused, this smaller profile at the same depth is often the difference; slow the retrieve and let the wide wobble carry it.
- Warm-water structure — Most useful when fish have moved off the bank onto points, humps and submerged timber in summer heat.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) on deep rocky points and river bends, peacock bass holding around submerged timber, giant snakehead (toman) sitting on drop-offs during the day, and barramundi (siakap) around deeper jetty and bridge pilings.
- North America — Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass on points, humps, riprap and creek channel edges; also crappie and walleye over deeper structure.
- Japan & East Asia — Black bass on the reservoirs and clear lakes where the Griffon series was developed, worked down breaklines and over hard bottom.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, golden perch and sooty grunter in impoundments; perch, zander and chub on European lakes, gravel pits and canal basins.

Recommended Pairing
- Medium or medium-heavy cranking rod of 6'6" to 7'2" with a moderate action
- Baitcasting reel around 5.8:1 to 6.4:1; lower gearing keeps the running depth consistent
- 10–14 lb fluorocarbon; lighter line lets the lure reach the deeper end of its range, heavier line lifts it
- Pair with the shallow-running Griffon models to cover 0–1 m and 2–2.5 m with the same body profile as fish move up and down the column
