Decoy Worm108 Body Guard HD Hook — Made In Japan
The Worm108 Body Guard HD is the tunable-guard member of Decoy's Body Guard family. Conventional weedless hooks often ask you to change how you fish — a harder hookset, a stiffer rod — just to work around the guard the maker chose for you. The Worm108 hands that decision back. It carries several fine brush-guard strands rather than one fixed wire, and they can be adjusted on the water: trim strands out to soften the guard, or spread the remaining ones into a V to widen the cover it deflects. The result is a low-bias weedless hook that suits your technique instead of dictating it. The base hook is Decoy's Body Hook Worm23, the same masubari blank used for the Worm107 Body Guard.
Key Features
- Multi-strand brush guard that can be tuned by hand in the field
- Trim strands to reduce guard tension, or spread them into a V-shape
- Built on the Body Hook Worm23 masubari blank
- Cross-hooking (masubari) geometry for wacky, neko and drop shot work
- NS Black finish; five hooks per pack
- Seven sizes from #6 up to #1/0
Worm108 HD Versus Worm107 Body Guard
- Worm107 — a single wire guard set at one fixed, deliberately middle tension. Nothing to adjust; you take Decoy's balance as supplied.
- Worm108 HD — the same Worm23 base hook with a brush guard of several strands you can thin or fan out. Choose it when you want a heavier guard for timber and lily stems, or a lighter one for open rock, from the same pack.
- Both share the NS Black finish, five per pack and the #6 to #1/0 range.
How To Rig It
- Wacky rig — Pass the point through the middle of a stick worm at right angles so both halves hang level, ideally under an O-ring. Let it sink on slack line into cover and watch the line for the take.
- Neko rig — Push a nail weight into the worm's nose and cross-hook it about a third of the way back. The head digs in, the tail stands up and shakes with small rod-tip taps among branches.
- Tuning the guard — Start with all strands. If you are missing fish, trim one or two out; if you are still fouling, fan the strands into a V so they cover a wider arc ahead of the point.
- Setting the hook — Reel down until you feel weight, then sweep rather than snap. The guard folds clear and the point does the work.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) and haruan in flooded timber and lily pads, hampala barb (sebarau) around reservoir stickups.
- North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on laydowns, standing timber, docks and rip-rap, where wacky and neko rigs carry pressured lakes.
- Japan & East Asia — Reservoir black bass, the cover-finesse fishery the Body Guard series was built for.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass and estuary perch around snags; perch and zander among sunken branches and canal pilings.
