The SV-69 Rocket Plus is the expanded version of Decoy's Rocket Head, the slim light-game head that built its following on feel. The name describes the shape: a long, tapered, streamlined head rather than a ball or a football, which is why it holds a line through the air, casts well for its weight and produces a steady, moderate reeling resistance you can read through the rod. That resistance is the point — at 0.45 to 0.9 g you cannot see the lure, so you fish by the load in the tip, and a head that reports consistently tells you when it has stopped or been bumped. The slim silhouette also swims horizontally rather than nose-down, keeping a small worm level on a slow wind. The hook is a straight-point pattern balanced to the head, and a resin keeper stops the soft bait sliding back. Rocket Plus widened the original range so more hook sizes and weights are available for different methods.

How To Rig It

• Thread the worm straight — Enter the nose square, run the body down the shank without a kink and push it back onto the resin keeper. A crooked bait spins, and at 0.45 g there is not enough head to correct it.
• Count down and slow wind — Count the fall in one-second steps until you find the fish, then wind just fast enough to feel the head. Any change in that resistance is either bottom or a bite.
• Lift and fall on structure — Work parallel to jetty legs, pontoons and rip-rap, lifting 20–30 cm and letting it drop on a semi-slack line. Most takes come on the fall.
• Carolina and split shot — Use the lightest heads behind a separate sinker so the bait drifts slowly and independently of the weight, useful in current or on wary fish.

Choosing Between Decoy Head Shapes

• SV-69 Rocket Plus — slim and streamlined. Pick it for distance, for reeling feel and for a horizontal swim.
• SV-52 Round Magic — round and neutral. Pick it when you want the plastic to supply all the action and the fastest sink per gram.
• SV-61 / SV-62 Salt Special — heavier saltwater heads for 4–6 inch baits and larger rockfish, where light game weights run out of authority.
• VJ-73 Egg Two-One / VJ-70 Powerful Egg — football heads at the opposite end of the range, for bass on heavy tackle and bulky worms.

• Southeast Asia — Small grunter, trevally and mangrove jack around jetties and pontoon lights, and light freshwater work for hampala barb (sebarau) fry-feeders.
• North America — Crappie, perch, white bass and school stripers, plus inshore speckled trout on a slow-swum small plastic.
• Japan & East Asia — Its home ground: ajing for horse mackerel (aji) and mebaru game, with kasago and small seabass on the same heads.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Bream, whiting and flathead on Australian estuary flats; perch and small zander in European canals and harbours.
