The Bossna 7517 uses the B snap — a shaped wire whose opening forms a rounded B, so the lure eye drops in and out with very little effort. It is close to the quick snap for change speed and tidier on the lure, and it is the lighter-limit option in this family: a lure-fishing snap rather than a jigging one. The rolling-swivel barrel sheds line twist, and the matte-black nickel finish keeps reflection down. Four sizes, #2 to #2/0.

Which Connection Mechanism

• "B" snap (7517, this model) — near the speed end. The rounded opening takes a lure eye one-handed and closes cleanly, but it carries the lowest limit of the six, so treat it as a lure snap for light and medium tackle rather than something to load in a straight pull.
• Quick snap (7515) — marginally faster, and the easiest here to lever open against timber.
• Italian snap (7513) — long, narrow opening; the slimmest on a lure eye.
• Safety snap (7514) — safety-pin style; a retaining bend means two movements to release.
• HD jig snap (7512) — the strongest opening here, sized for metal jigs.
• Coastlock (7511) — the security end, and the most positive lock here.
• Picking one — these 7517 suits frogs, pencils and minnows over open water and weed edges where you change often. Once a giant snakehead (toman) is pulling into mangrove roots, or you are jigging and trolling, step across to the 7514, 7511 or 7512.

How To Rig It

• Main line to leader — Palomar from braid to the swivel eye, improved clinch on mono or fluorocarbon; wet before seating.
• Snap to lure — Clip to the split ring, not the bare wire eye, and check the wire has snapped fully back into the B after every change.
• Matching size to line — Bigger number means smaller: #2 lightest, #2/0 heaviest. Match line class and lure weight, not the fish you hope for.
• The weakest link — This is the pattern where that is most likely true. If leader and trebles outrate the snap, the snap opens first; size up or move to a heavier pattern.
• After saltwater — Rinse in fresh water and dry; replace any unit whose swivel binds or no longer closes flush.
