Bossna Ball Bearing Swivel With Cross Lock 7525 Nickel

The 7525 is one of only two ball-bearing swivels in this Bossna range, and that is what sets it apart. A rolling or barrel swivel spins freely in your fingers but effectively locks up once real load comes onto it; a bearing swivel keeps turning while it is loaded. The chamfered low-drag body tracks cleanly, a welded ring gives a closed connection point for the main line, and the cross-lock snap changes lures and sinkers without retying.

Why A Ball Bearing Swivel

• The problem — Any lure that rotates feeds twist up the line. A plain swivel binds as soon as it is pulled tight, so twist keeps building into coils on the spool and wind knots in the braid.
• When it is worth it — Metal jigging, spinners and blades, trolling, drifted live bait and deep drop load the swivel constantly; a rolling swivel cannot do these jobs. Casting minnows, frogs and vibration lures puts little sustained rotation into the line, and the 7522 or 7516 cover that with less bulk.
• 7525 or 7524 — This model carries a cross-lock snap, so lures swap on the water. The 7524 carries a solid ring: no quick change, but the stronger connection. Snap for lure fishing, solid ring for heavy jigs and assist rigs.
• Size numbering — On this bearing series a higher number is a larger swivel, the reverse of the #10-to-#3/0 rolling swivel scale.

How To Rig It

• Main line to swivel — Palomar from braid to the welded ring, improved clinch on mono or fluorocarbon. Wet the knot before seating it.
• Snap to lure — Clip to the split ring, not the bare wire eye, and check the tag is fully seated after every change.
• Jigging and trolling — Run it between braid and leader, or ahead of a running sinker or spinner blade, so rotation is absorbed at the swivel.
• After saltwater — Rinse and dry. Retire any unit whose bearing feels gritty; one that has taken sand will stop turning exactly when it is loaded.

• Smaller sizes: light to medium spinning, 8–20 lb braid with a fluorocarbon leader
• Mid sizes: medium to heavy casting and light jigging, 20–50 lb braid with a 30–60 lb leader
• Larger sizes: offshore jigging, trolling and deep drop, 50–80 lb braid
• Pair with pressed split rings (7530) so the snap is not the only load-bearing link
