Bossna Rolling Swivel With Coastlock 7511 Black Nickel
The Bossna 7511 carries the coastlock — the snap form heavy-tackle anglers settle on when losing a fish to a sprung connection is not acceptable. The tag wire runs down inside a long formed hook and has to be walked back out deliberately, so head-shaking or dragging through timber will not release it. Behind it the rolling-swivel barrel keeps turning under load to shed twist. Black nickel finish, eight sizes from #8 to #3/0.
Key Features
- Smooth rolling-swivel rotation that reduces line twist and frees the lure's movement
- Secure coast-lock snap whose locking shape resists accidental opening under pressure
- Breaking strengths from 20 lb to 170 lb across the size range
- Black nickel finish, discreet and low-glare with added resistance to rust and wear
- Suits hard lures, metal jigs, spoons, soft-lure rigs, leaders and terminal tackle
Which Connection Mechanism
- Coastlock (7511, this model) — the security end, and the highest-rated of the six. The captured wire will not lever open in structure, which is why it is the default for big fish and hard cover. The cost is speed and a little bulk: not the snap for changing lures every third cast.
- Safety snap (7514) — the same idea, slimmer and quicker: a retaining bend rather than a long hook.
- HD jig snap (7512) — the widest, strongest opening here, sized for metal jigs.
- Italian snap (7513) — long, narrow opening; the slimmest on a lure eye.
- "B" snap (7517) — quick, but the lowest limit here.
- Quick snap (7515) — fastest to change, easiest to lever open against timber.
- Picking one — this 7511 is for giant snakehead (toman) in flooded timber, barramundi (siakap) in mangrove roots, reef edges and trolled lures under sustained load. Working open water and swapping lures constantly, the 7515 or 7517 costs far less time.
How To Rig It
- Main line to leader — Palomar from braid to the swivel eye, improved clinch on mono or fluorocarbon; wet before seating.
- Snap to lure — Clip to the split ring, not the bare wire eye, and confirm the tag is fully seated inside the lock after every change.
- Matching size to line — Bigger number means smaller: #8 lightest, #3/0 heaviest. Match line class and lure weight, not the fish you hope for.
- The weakest link — A lock does not raise the rating. Undersized, the snap still fails before the leader; in toman and mangrove work step up a size.
- After saltwater — Rinse in fresh water and dry; replace any unit whose swivel binds or whose lock has opened out.
