Decoy KR-29 Worm Round-Fine Hook — Made In Japan
The KR-29 Worm Round-Fine is a fine-wire, round-bend worm hook from Decoy's KR series of light single hooks. Two design choices define it. The round bend keeps the gap open and evenly curved, so the point turns in and finds purchase from almost any angle of pull rather than needing a particular hookset. The fine wire does two jobs at once: it weighs very little, so a small worm keeps the movement it has instead of being anchored by the hook, and it penetrates on light force, which is what a finesse rod and thin line can actually deliver. That combination makes it a hook for natural presentation — long pauses, slack-line falls and small baits worked slowly — rather than for hauling fish out of heavy cover. It is supplied in Black Nickel across five sizes from #2 up to #3/0, so the same pattern covers small worms on light rigs and larger soft plastics on movable jig heads.
Key Features
- Round bend for consistent hook-up angles and improved bait movement
- Fine wire that penetrates under light hookset force
- Low hook weight so small soft plastics keep their natural action
- Sharp, durable Japanese-made point
- Suited to finesse rigs and to movable or free-sliding jig heads
- Usable in fresh water and in light saltwater work
- Black Nickel finish; five sizes from #2 to #3/0
How To Rig It
- Nose-hook a soft plastic — Pass the point through the very front of the worm, in one side and out the other, so the body hangs free. This is where a fine-wire round bend earns its keep: the bait swings and rolls on the fall instead of being pinned stiff.
- Split shot and Carolina — Pinch a shot or run a sliding sinker 40–70 cm up the line and drag the bait slowly over the bottom with long pauses. The light hook lets the worm settle slowly behind the weight.
- Movable jig head rigs — Run the hook on a free-sliding head or a separate weight so hook and weight are independent. The fish feels less resistance, and the hook stays free to rotate into the jaw.
- Setting the hook — Reel down and lean, do not snap. Fine wire buries easily but will bend if you overload it, so keep the drag light and let the rod absorb the run.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) on small worms in clear reservoir water, peacock bass on finesse plastics, and light jetty and mangrove work for small mangrove jack and grunter.
- North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on split shot and finesse rigs, plus crappie, perch and walleye on small soft plastics.
- Japan & East Asia — Light game around harbours and rock: mebaru, kasago and small seabass, and pressured reservoir black bass on finesse presentations.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Bream, whiting and estuary perch on light plastics in Australian estuaries; perch and zander on drop shot and Carolina rigs in European lakes and canals.
