Luresfactory MF The Ripper 6cm 20.3g Hardbody Topwater

The Ripper is a heavy topwater lure built to create flash, vibration and water disturbance across the surface. The compact 6cm frog-style hard body gives predatory fish a solid target, and 20.3g is enough weight for controlled, longer-distance casting. What sets it apart from the frogs in this range is the front twin-propeller assembly: on the retrieve the metal blades spin, throwing spray, sending vibration down the body and flashing reflected light with every rotation. A flexible silicone skirt wraps the rear section, spreading and pulsing to fill out the profile. A strong rear double-hook system in #3/0 sits close to the body, so it can be worked around light grass and weed edges with less snag risk than exposed trebles — no lure is completely snag-free.

Treat this as the search tool of the group rather than a finesse frog. A frog needs you to work it; The Ripper produces noise, flash and vibration continuously as long as you keep winding, which means you can cover a long bank quickly and consistently. That is what the bright colour range is for as well — green, orange, pink, blue, red and red black are visibility colours, not imitation colours. When you do not know where the fish are, this finds them; when you have found them, switch to a quieter natural body.

Key Features

  • Topwater hard body, 6cm and 20.3g
  • Compact frog-inspired body with a front twin-propeller blade system
  • Metal blades produce flash, vibration and surface disturbance
  • Flexible silicone skirt adds movement and volume at the rear
  • Strong rear double hook, size #3/0, sitting close to the body
  • Weighted body supports controlled, longer-distance casting
  • Works at slow, medium and fast retrieve speeds
  • Six high-visibility colour patterns

How To Fish It

  • Steady blade burn — Cast long and wind at a constant speed so the props never stop turning. This is the retrieve for fan-casting an unknown bank or a long weed line.
  • Slow roll — Wind just fast enough to keep the blades rotating. The slower the props turn, the longer a fish has to track the lure down.
  • Stop and go — Wind five turns, stop for a second, wind again. The blades stall and restart, and that change in rhythm is often what triggers the strike.
  • Along the edge — Run it parallel to grass edges, reed lines and timber rather than into the cover. The props need clean water to keep spinning.
  • Set late — Fish often strike at the blade wash rather than the body. Keep winding through the boil, wait a beat for the rod to load, then sweep sideways. Missed fish will usually take again if you cast straight back.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) along weed lines and flooded timber; striped snakehead (haruan) in canals; hampala barb (sebarau) in river pools, where the flash suits a chasing fish; peacock bass on dam margins.
  • North America — Largemouth bass along grass edges and around laydowns; chain pickerel and bowfin in backwaters; northern snakehead in tidal creeks.
  • Japan & East Asia — Bass on shallow reservoir flats and around reed edges; snakehead (raigyo) in open canal stretches; catfish (namazu) after dark, when constant vibration matters more than sight.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Saratoga and sooty grunter in billabongs and creek arms; pike and large perch along weed beds in European lakes and canals.

Recommended Pairing

  • Heavy or medium-heavy casting rod that can cast 20g all day without tiring you out
  • PE 3–5 braid, or 40–60 lb, straight through over weed
  • Low-profile baitcaster, 150–300 class, with a fast retrieve to start the blades immediately on splashdown
  • Check the propeller shaft and blade clearance after fishing weed — a fouled blade stops the whole presentation
