Hayabusa SS116 Holo Flasher with Aurora Mackerel Skin Sabiki (5 Hooks Per Pack)

The SS116 is the short, hard-flashing member of Hayabusa’s Jissen Sabiki 20 (実戦サビキ20) boat range. It pairs two attractors that work differently: a holographic flasher, which is a mirror-finished sheet throwing the brightest, hardest flash of any sabiki dressing and pulling fish in from a distance, and aurora-finished mackerel skin, which is natural saba-kawa under an iridescent coating that shifts colour with angle and keeps the close-range look of a real baitfish. Luminous bead accents add visibility in deeper or shaded water. At 2.4 m with five hooks it is deliberately shorter than the six-hook rigs, which makes it far easier to handle on a short boat rod and to swing aboard in a swell.

Key Features

  • Holo flasher (ホロ) — mirror-finished holographic sheet producing the hardest flash in the range, to draw fish from a wider area
  • Aurora skin (オーロラ) over natural mackerel skin — an iridescent coating that changes colour with viewing angle while the skin underneath keeps its soft, lifelike flutter
  • Two-stage attraction: the holo pulls fish in from range, the skin convinces them close up
  • Luminous bead accents for deep, shaded and low-light water
  • Fluorocarbon branch lines for a less visible presentation in clear water
  • Five hooks on a 2.4 m rig, 20 cm branch lines, 40 cm spacing — short enough for a short boat rod
  • White and gold flattened New Aji hooks, which add a little reflection of their own

How To Fish It

  • Charge the ami-kago — Sabiki fishing (サビキ釣り) runs on the bait cloud. Pack the cage with mashed Antarctic krill (ami-ebi) and clip it to the rig.
  • Drop to the layer — Stop at the depth showing bait on the sounder; the shorter rig makes precise depth control easier than a 2.8 m string.
  • Shake, then hold — Two or three sharp lifts empty the cage. Stop dead and let the five dressings hang in the cloud so the skin reads as krill among real krill.
  • Use it in clear water and sun — Holographic flash is at its best in clear water and bright light, where it carries a long way. In heavily stained water a gold or pink pattern will usually out-fish it.
  • Wind slowly on a full string — Keep winding at one steady speed and lift the rig aboard; a hard strike pulls hooks from soft mouths and can pop a light branch.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Indian mackerel (kembung), bigeye scad (selar) and sardine (tamban) from anchored boats and kelong, especially in clear offshore water; held in an aerated bucket they become live bait for grouper (kerapu), queenfish (talang) and trevally.
  • North America — Pacific mackerel, sardine and jacksmelt from party boats and piers; Atlantic mackerel and herring as tuna and striped bass bait.
  • Japan & East Asia — Boat sabiki-zuri for aji and saba, the short rig favoured on crowded party boats and with short-handled boat rods.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Slimy mackerel, yellowtail scad and garfish off wharves; scad along Gulf harbour walls; mackerel and herring from European piers.
