Yozuri L-Minnow Heavy Weight Sinking 33mm / 44mm / 66mm F952 / F953 / F954 Fishing Lures

The L-Minnow is one of the longest-running small minnows in Japanese tackle, and the Heavy Weight version is its salt-water branch. Duel keeps the same short, fat body but loads it far heavier than the standard model — 5.5 g at 33 mm, 9 g at 44 mm, 16 g at 66 mm — so it casts into wind, reaches the far side of a harbour mouth, and gets down fast in current. The action is a small, rapid wobble that switches on the moment the lure moves, so it works on a straight wind as well as on a twitch. In Japan it is a standard tool for light salt game on small trevally (mekki), barracuda (kamasu) and school seabass (seigo); the 66 mm also handles small pelagics and flatfish. Note that each size runs a different hook layout.

Key Features

  • Heavily weighted body for long, accurate casts into wind and current
  • Countdown sinking design for precise depth control
  • Three sizes, from 33 mm fry to a 66 mm baitfish profile
  • Single hook on the 33 mm and 44 mm, twin hooks on the 66 mm
  • Flat-forged split rings, 3D eyes and a lifelike scale finish
  • Fresh and salt water — streams, harbours, rock walls and surf

How To Fish It

  • Count down and wind — Cast, count the lure down, then retrieve steadily. Add a second to the count each cast until you find the level fish are holding.
  • Twitch and fall — Two short rod-tip twitches then a pause. The heavy body flutters nose-down, and most takes come as it drops.
  • Harbour search — Fan casts around jetty lights and breakwater corners at dawn and dusk, when mekki, kamasu and seigo push bait against structure.
  • Upstream swing — In a stream or tidal channel, cast up and across, keep a tight line and let the lure swing down. The weight keeps it tracking where a light minnow would wash out.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Small trevally and queenfish around jetties and rock walls, barracuda over sand flats, juvenile barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack (jenahak) in creek mouths; the 33 mm also suits highland streams.
  • North America — Trout, smallmouth bass and perch on the 33 mm and 44 mm; schoolie striped bass, bluefish and speckled trout on the 66 mm.
  • Japan & East Asia — The core home use: mekki, kamasu and seigo on light salt game tackle, plus mebaru, kasago and small hirame.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Bream, whiting and flathead in estuaries; perch, chub and trout in Europe; small queenfish and needlefish on Gulf shorelines.
