Yozuri Hydro Squirt 190mm F176 Floating Trolling Lure

The Yo-Zuri Hydro Squirt is a 190 mm floating squid imitation for near-shore and offshore work. A hard moulded head and integrated lip drive a wide, rolling swimming action, while the soft skirt trails and pulses behind it the way a live squid's tentacles do under tow. At 40 g it can be cast, but it earns most of its fish on a slow troll when squid are in the food chain — around bait balls, over pinnacles and along current lines. Wire-through construction with extra-strong split rings and 3X trebles means the terminal end is not the weak point when a wahoo or a tuna eats it.

Key Features

  • Realistic hard-body squid imitation with a soft, flowing skirt
  • Integrated lip producing a wide, natural swimming action under tow
  • Through-wire construction with heavy-duty split rings and 3X strong treble hooks
  • Floating 190 mm / 40 g body — rises on the pause and stays clear of structure at rest
  • Proven where squid are present in the food chain, near-shore and offshore
  • Three finishes: TMGG, TMPK and TMYB

How To Fish It

  • Slow trolling — This is a slow-speed lure, not a high-speed skirt. Troll in the 3–5 knot band and watch it in the prop wash: if it skips or rolls onto its side, ease the throttle back until it swims upright with a steady roll.
  • Setting the spread — Run it 30–50 m back on the short rigger or flat line so it sits on the second or third wave of the wake, and 60–80 m back on the long lines. More line out rides deeper and quieter; shorten up when fish are working the wash.
  • Working structure — Troll along current lines, colour changes, FADs and the up-current edge of pinnacles and reef drop-offs. Turn the boat regularly — the inside lure slows and drops, the outside one speeds up, and strikes often come on the turn.
  • Casting to showing fish — Cast past busting fish and retrieve at a moderate steady pace with occasional long sweeps of the rod so the skirt breathes.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Spanish mackerel (tenggiri), wahoo, giant trevally (GT), sailfish, mahi-mahi and small yellowfin tuna over offshore reef, FADs and pinnacles; cobia and queenfish closer in.
  • North America — Mahi-mahi, wahoo, blackfin and yellowfin tuna, king mackerel, cobia and striped bass on the troll.
  • Japan & East Asia — Yellowtail (buri), amberjack (kanpachi) and skipjack on offshore trolling runs.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Spanish mackerel, wahoo, mahi-mahi and longtail tuna in northern Australia; queenfish, GT and kingfish on Gulf grounds; bluefish and bonito around Mediterranean and Iberian headlands.
