The WORM107 Body Guard is Decoy's Body Hook Worm23 masubari upgraded with a wire guard, for anglers who want a wacky or neko-rigged worm placed right inside cover without collecting every twig on the way. The guard tension is deliberately balanced — stiff enough to deflect off standing timber, branches and broken rock, soft enough to collapse clear of the point the instant a fish bites so the hookset is not blunted. Decoy developed it with feedback from Kanto reservoir bass anglers and tested it on those same waters, which is why it reads as a cover-placement tool rather than a general-purpose hook.

How To Rig It

• Wacky rig — Push the point through the middle of a stick worm at right angles to the body so both halves hang evenly. Slide an O-ring onto the worm and pass the hook under the ring rather than through the plastic to make one bait last many fish. Let it sink on slack line and watch the line for the take.
• Neko rig — Insert a nail weight into the worm's head, then cross-hook it a third of the way down from the nose. The weighted nose digs into the bottom and the tail stands up and shakes with small rod-tip taps.
• Down shot with a guard — Cross-hook the worm above a drop shot sinker and shake it in place among branches and rock, where an unguarded hook would foul every few shakes.
• Setting the hook — Reel down until you feel weight, then sweep the rod firmly rather than slamming it; the guard folds away and the point does the work.

Target Species By Region

• Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) and haruan worked through flooded timber and lily pads, hampala barb (sebarau) around reservoir stickups, and peacock bass in submerged brush.
• North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass around laydowns, standing timber, docks and rip-rap, where wacky and neko rigs are mainstays on pressured lakes.
• Japan & East Asia — Reservoir black bass, the fishery the hook was developed on, plus light freshwater work for other structure-oriented species.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass and estuary perch around snags; perch and zander among sunken branches and pilings in European lakes and canals.

Recommended Pairing

• Medium-light to medium spinning rod: a tip soft enough to load on a light worm, enough butt to turn a fish out of timber
• PE 0.6–1.0 braid with a 6–12 lb fluorocarbon leader, or straight 6–10 lb fluorocarbon
• Nail weights of 0.9–1.8 g for neko rigging; unweighted for a slow wacky fall
• 3–5 inch stick and straight-tail worms; use O-rings to extend bait life
