Devil Craft 1.6" Ajing Rock Worm, 10 Pieces Per Pack

A 1.6" straight worm body for ajing and light rock game. Unlike a curl tail or a paddle tail, it has no built-in action at all, and that is deliberate. Every movement comes from the rod tip, so the lure sits dead still on a pause and gives away nothing to fish that have seen too many vibrating soft plastics. That makes it the pick for pressured harbours, clear night water and any session where the fish are following but refusing. The compact size suits ultra-light rigs, micro jigs and finesse work, while the soft worm body gives a realistic, natural movement that attracts smaller predators. Supplied 10 pieces per pack in 13 colours across glitter, glow and natural finishes, in a material soft but durable enough to take several bites.

How To Fish It

• Lift and fall — The main method for a straight worm. Lift the rod from 9 to 11 o'clock so the worm darts, then lower and let it sink on controlled slack. The bite comes on the fall.
• Shake and pause — Small rod-tip shakes over one or two seconds, then a full stop of two or three seconds. Following fish commit during the stop, because the worm goes completely inert.
• Tada-maki with twitches — Wind slowly on a 0.4 to 1.0 g head and add an occasional twitch. Without a tail to do the work, those twitches are the only trigger, so keep them irregular.
• Watch the line, not the rod — On sub-gram heads the tip barely registers a take. Fish with light tension and strike when the line ticks, jumps or stops sinking. Drift it this way through the shadow edge of jetty lights where a paddle tail is refused.

• Southeast Asia — Small grouper, golden threadfin bream (kerisi), small barramundi (siakap) and mixed jetty and river-mouth species on ultralight tackle.
• North America — Crappie, bluegill, yellow perch and stocked trout in freshwater; speckled trout, whiting and small flounder on inshore micro jigs.
• Japan & East Asia — Horse mackerel (aji) on ajing tackle, and mebaru and kasago on mebaring and light rock game around harbours and breakwaters.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Bream, whiting and flathead in estuaries; LRF for wrasse, gobies, scad and perch off European piers and canals; small grouper and bream from Gulf harbour walls.

Recommended Pairing

• 0.3 to 1.5 g ajing jig heads, size 10 to 6 hooks
• 6 to 7.5 ft ultralight solid-tip rod rated to about 3 g, which shows the bite better
• 1000 to 2000 size reel with PE 0.2 to 0.3 braid and a 3 to 6 lb fluorocarbon leader
• Glow and glitter colours under lights; ice and motor oil tones in clear water
