Devil Craft 1.7" Ajing Sardine Minnow With T-Tail, 10 Pieces Per Pack

A 1.7" light game soft plastic shaped like a small sardine and finished with a T-tail (paddle tail). The paddle is what separates it from a curl or a straight worm: it kicks and pushes water on a steady wind, so the lure sends out a low, regular vibration that fish can track in coloured water or at night. The slightly larger 1.7" body also helps when aji and rockfish are feeding on sardine-sized bait and a 1.5" profile is being ignored. Designed to glide naturally, it presents effectively and encourages prolonged attacks for a higher hook-up rate, and the bright and glitter finishes keep it working in the dark zone. Supplied 10 pieces per pack in 13 colours.

How To Fish It

• Tada-maki (steady retrieve) — The primary method for a paddle tail. On a 0.8 to 1.5 g head, count down to depth and wind at a constant slow speed so the tail thumps without ever stopping.
• Lift and fall — Lift the rod from 9 to 11 o'clock, then lower it and let the head sink on a controlled slack line. The paddle flutters on the drop, which is when most bites happen.
• Watch the line, not the rod — On sub-gram heads a bite rarely loads the tip. Keep light tension and strike when the line ticks, jumps or stops falling.
• Light lines at night — Retrieve along the boundary between lit and dark water at jetties, harbours and bridges, keeping the lure just inside the shadow.
• Current seams — Cast up-current and let the lure swing down naturally; the tail keeps working on the swing with almost no input from you.

• Southeast Asia — Small grouper, golden threadfin bream (kerisi), small barramundi (siakap) and mixed jetty and river-mouth species on ultralight tackle.
• North America — Crappie, white bass, yellow perch and stocked trout; speckled trout, whiting and small flounder on inshore micro jig heads.
• Japan & East Asia — Horse mackerel (aji) on ajing tackle, plus mebaru and kasago on mebaring and light rock game around breakwaters and harbour walls.
