American Tackle Nanolite Titanium Ring Lock Spin Guide 64NIRLS

This is a rod-building component, not a finished rod: a single American Tackle 64NIRLS guide, sold individually in seven ring sizes from 8 mm to 40 mm. The S in the code marks the spinning frame. Line leaves a fixed spinning spool in expanding coils rather than straight off a level spool, so the first guide must stand high and open wide enough to gather that cone before it slaps the frame — which is why this range runs to 40 mm while the 64 casting models stop at 20 mm. NI is the top ring option: a titanium ring on the Nanolite frame in the Ring Lock seat.

Key Features

  • Spinning frame — high standing height, wide first ring for the cone off a fixed spool
  • Titanium ring, the highest of the three 64 spinning ring options
  • Ring Lock pressure-fit ring seat with enlarged glue reservoir (US Patent D627,032)
  • Seven ring sizes: 8, 12, 16, 20, 25, 30 and 40 mm, sold singly

Choosing Between The Three Spinning Rings

  • 64NIRLS — titanium — Lightest, and most resistant to the grooving braid cuts into softer ring materials. For dedicated PE rods living in salt.
  • 64TTRLS — TICH frame, Nanolite ring, stainless — The middle step, and the default for a mixed braid and mono build.
  • 64NCRLS — chrome Nanolite, stainless — The entry point: a first build, a spare set, or a rod that mostly runs mono.

How To Build With It

  • Sizing the stripper — Match the first guide to the spool: 40 mm and 30 mm for 6000–14000 reels, 25 mm for 3000–5000. Too small a stripper costs distance on every cast.
  • Reduce fast, then run small — Drop through 25 and 20 mm over the first third of the blank, then hold 16, 12 and 8 mm to the tip.
  • Spend the titanium where it works — Wear concentrates at the stripper and first reduction, where line changes angle under load. If the whole train is not going titanium, put it there.
  • Check the knot, then the spacing — Pull your actual FG or PR connection through the chosen stripper by hand; a knot that clicks will cost a cast. Static test the taped train under a hanging weight, then seal in two thin epoxy coats.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Popping and jigging spin builds on PE for giant trevally (GT), queenfish, barramundi (siakap) and giant snakehead (toman), where braid contact and salt are constant.
  • North America — Surf and inshore spin builds for striped bass and redfish, plus West Coast rockfish and salmon blanks.
  • Japan & East Asia — Shore jigging and offshore casting blanks for buri, kanpachi and hiramasa, where a 40 mm stripper suits high-speed PE.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Kingfish and mulloway spin rods, Gulf popping blanks, and European pike and sea bass builds.
