Decoy Barbless Worm Hook — #3 To #5/0, Made In Japan

This is the barbless option in Decoy's WORM family, the Katsuichi line built for rigging soft plastics rather than hard baits or natural bait. Removing the barb changes two things on the water: the point drives in with far less force, which matters on light line and long casts, and the hook backs out in one movement so a fish can be released quickly and handled less. It also comes out of a thumb or a landing net just as easily. The listed range runs #3 to #5/0, covering small finesse plastics through to full-size worms and creature baits.

Key Features

  • Barbless point for easy penetration and fast, low-damage release
  • Worm-hook geometry that holds a soft plastic straight on the shank
  • Four sizes — #3, #4, #4/0 and #5/0
  • Supplied 9 per pack in #3 and #4, 6 in #4/0 and 5 in #5/0
  • Made in Japan by Katsuichi
  • Suits catch-and-release waters and fisheries that require barbless hooks

How To Rig It

  • Texas rig — Run a bullet sinker onto the line, tie on the hook, then thread the worm so it hangs straight. Cast to cover, let it sink on a controlled line, then lift and drop it through the strike zone rather than winding it back.
  • Weightless soft plastic — Rig a fluke or stick worm with no weight and twitch it across the surface film over weed and timber. The slow, gliding fall does the work; keep contact so a barbless point does not drop out on slack line.
  • Carolina rig — Run the sinker above a swivel with a 40–60 cm leader to the hook and drag it slowly over flats and drop-offs, so the plastic follows behind and above the weight.
  • Fighting a barbless hook — Keep the rod loaded and the line tight from strike to net, and let the drag give line rather than easing off pressure yourself.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) and peacock bass in reservoirs, giant snakehead (toman) over weed, and barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack around timber on the larger sizes.
  • North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on Texas and weightless rigs, plus pickerel, walleye and inshore redfish and speckled trout.
  • Japan & East Asia — Black bass in pressured reservoirs and canals, and rockfish (kasago, mebaru) on soft plastics where undersized fish are released.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, barramundi and estuary flathead; pike, perch and zander in European lakes and canals, many of which require barbless hooks.
